The solemn opening was held with the participation of the Governor of the Leningrad Region Alexander Drozdenko, the Chairman of the Leningrad Regional Branch of the RGO Georgy Dvas, the Deputy Chairman of the Leningrad Regional Branch of the RGO Viktor Senichkin, and the Project Manager of Gatchina Gardens Natalia Osetrova.
The headquarters is located on Moscow Avenue, 175, on the territory of the representative office of the Swedish developer of the resort town Gatchina Gardens, the construction of which is being conducted near St. Petersburg.
The site will allow the brand of the Leningrad Region to be promoted on a new qualitative level in the international arena. It should be recalled that in October 2017, the year of the 90th anniversary of the Leningrad Region, the headquarters of the St. Petersburg City and Leningrad regional branches of the Russian Geographical Society opened in the business residence of the Helling GmbH in Hamburg, Germany.
“The Leningrad branch of the RGO has been conducting independent work for a long time, conducting expeditions and realizing projects related to the study of historical and natural monuments, as well as the development of tourism in the Leningrad region. Previously, all events were held at the headquarters of the Russian Geographical Society in the center of St. Petersburg, in the Grivtsova Lane. Now we have our own site. Our partner and a member of the Board of Trustees – Gatchina Golf Village (which is engaged in the construction of the city-resort Gatchina Gardens), which is also connected with the development of the tourist potential of the Leningrad Region – provided us with its office, “said at the opening ceremony of the headquarters on Moskovsky Prospekt Alexander Drozdenko.
“The social and cultural projects of the Russian Geographical Society help foreign partners to better understand and appreciate the culture and investment potential of Russia and its regions. The work of the headquarters will be aimed at developing the brand of the Leningrad region, which has undeniable advantages. Picturesque landscapes, parks and manors, medieval castles and fortresses, ecology, a balneological resource, tourist potential – all this is in our region. Such projects contribute to strengthening the image of the region, and in the future contribute to strengthening international cooperation and attracting foreign investment, “commented Natalia Osetrova, project manager of Gatchina Gardens.
“In 2018, the regional office will continue the work that we started in 2017. In particular, the expeditions to the islands of Gogland and Powerful, the summer archiological school for teenagers, which are led by professional archaeologists, as well as another project in the Vyborgsky district of the Leningrad region, about the development of which we will announce separately, “said Georgy Dvas, chairman of the Leningrad regional branch of the RGO.
